I have finished my editing today, I had a few things to do before it was complete.
The first thing I had to do was put the shot I got of the ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ gates of Anfield Stadium from Creative Commons, I spoke about Creative Commons yesterday when I realised I would have to get a shot of the gates when the voiceover mentions the quote.
It was a still image of the gates so I edited it a little by using ken burns and moving the crosses which are the points by putting the green one in the middle then dragging the red one up so that the shot moves rather than being a still image. This edit will make my shot move and zoom further into the gate and it moves up, it looks like I have shot a zoom pan up shot of the gates.

I was meant to have the voiceover part for the art in the city at the end but the whole video ended up being too long so I left the art part and I decided to add the ending of Frank’s interview summarising Liverpool. This idea changes my whole idea that I spoke about in my Documentary idea – visme from the beginning which was to talk about music, football then art but I had decided that it was too long and there was well enough on the music and football and still gave the audience an insight to what the culture is like in Liverpool.
I used this part of Frank’s interview because he’s smiling and he was clearly happy boasting about the city. I watched the whole interview and marked the parts I wanted and put it on the timeline. I decided not to put any cutaways over it because he is smiling and looks proud when he is talking and I want the audience to feel the same when they watch his part.
I put the last part of his interview at the end, I knew to put this part in it because of the Transcript – Frank Interview I wrote for this part. I knew I wanted this when I interviewed him.

I then put the audio in which was the song that I chose out of the selection he gave me and I downloaded it online and put into my project. Today, I have put it into my timeline after all the audio was in and all the cutaways were in place. When I listened to the song again, I remembered that I said earlier on in my Sorting soundtrack blog, I said that I would put the instrumental part that is towards the end of the song, I would use it in the introduction which I did when it was put into the timeline. I put the music in the introduction and lowered the volume when the voiceover comes in, I did this so that the music doesn’t clash with the voiceover when it comes in. The music then stops when the Frank interview comes in and then appears again when the voiceover comes back in. Then after Frank’s part the music comes back in loud when I edited the credits in at the end.
I had a rough idea when I was putting in the audio and soundtrack from when I did my Soundtrack and Audio plan sheet so I knew where and when my audio came in. I didn’t stick to it exactly because I created it before I had started editing but I had an idea because of the length of the production I had in my head when I was filling it in. It wasn’t too far off.

The last thing I had to do once everything was in place was the the volume of the audio right the way through so I started with the introduction. The volume varied right throughout the whole thing because the microphones were all in different places where they were either closer to their mouths and some weren’t. For example, my grandad’s interview, the microphone closer to his mouth and in Paul’s interview, the microphone is further away from his mouth because its further down his shirt unlike in my grandad’s where his is on the collar of his t-shirt. In the images, you can see where the volumes vary and are at different volumes because some are higher and some are lower. This includes the voiceover as well as the interviews.
After all my clips were in, I edited my title in which was a basic fade in fade out. I put it at the very beginning with a blank screen then I added a fade transition so that the title faded into the first shot which was a long shot of the whole of the city. I used it at the beginning of the whole product so that the audience knew what the documentary will be about.

The end credits, I used the classic scrolling style that is used at the end of films and documentaries. I used it at the end and listed the contributors and who directed, produced and edited the product, this lets the audience know who was in it and who it was made by. This style of end credits is used in most films and documentaries. I put these credits straight after Frank stops speaking when the music fades back in that has played throughout the documentary so that its not in silent.

To export my work, I clicked on the share button at the top right of the software and clicked on Apple devices 1080p and then I checked the settings so the format was video and audio. Then I saved it to my library and then saved it on to my pen drive ready to send it and upload it to the platforms.
